About Lex Ceramics

Hi, I’m Lex! I’m a marine biologist and ceramic artist. Two years ago, a traumatic nerve injury caused a severe loss of function in my hand and ongoing chronic nerve pain, temporarily pulling me away from my work and training in marine science. During recovery, I turned to ceramics as a form of occupational therapy to regain function, and it grew into a creative practice I continue to build.

My work is inspired by nature and by areas of curiosity I now have the opportunity to explore because of that shift. Ceramics has given me space to explore interests that live alongside marine biology, rather than replacing it. My first collection draws from a long-held fascination with primates.

I create ceramics meant for everyday use, objects that feel personal, tactile, and easy to live with, bringing a small sense of joy into daily life.
